The Chef's bolt is forged from the leaf spring mounting bolt of a large industrial vehicle. (bolt pictured in photos!) This chunk of high-carbon tool steel has been given a second chance as a slicing, dicing, and chopping tool in your personal or professional kitchen.
The steel has been annealed, forged by hand, hardened, and carefully tempered to give this blade a hard edge with superior flexibility. The blade has also been force-etched to create a patina on the steel, which helps prevent further corrosion of the steel over time. The blade boasts a full tang construction - as it is made entirely of metal.
*Blade is sharpened with a flat to convex grind and secondary bevel.
Cutting Edge: 60-63 HRC
Blade is approximately 1/8” - 1/4" thick, 2" deep, and 8 1/2 ” long. Entire knife is roughly 13”. Handle is roughly 1/2" thick.
Caring for knife:
Keep the knife as dry as possible. Do not soak in water. When finished cutting something wet or washing off blade, dry with a soft cloth. Small amounts of mineral oil should occasionally be wiped onto blade. Handle has been protected with satin lacquer.
*Purchase includes knife.
